THE TRUE MEANING OF MARRIAGE

Marriage as we all know is a legal union of a man and a woman for cohabitation and often procreation, but nowadays anybody can fall in love and marry as long as there is someone out there who is willing join them together.
The word marriage started right from the beginning of Gods creation. God decided to create man in his own image and therefore he created Adam but found out it wasn’t good for Adam to be alone and then he created a helper and name her Eve whom we where told from the Bible was created from Adams ribs. Adam felt contented with what God has provided for him and said “this is the bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh”, but God didn’t stop there, he also made a statement which I believe declared marriage as a divine institution and he quotes “Therefore shall a man leave his father and mother and shall cleave unto his wife and they shall be one flesh”.

Now lets look into our modern way of life and the whole issue of marriage. Marriage itself is meant to be a beautiful thing but a lot of people see marriage as a chore and feel they can marry today and divorce the next day. Even young teenagers tend to fall in love and the next thing that comes to their mind is marriage. There is more to love that what you see on the surface . Love is caring, gentle, kind, forgiving, enduring, etc and not just liking someone just because he or she is funny, handsome, smart and so on. If you cannot love your wife or husband unconditionally, then your marriage is set to fall apart.

Another thing a you should do before getting married is to ask yourself these questions, am I really ready for this, do really know who am going to spend the rest of my life with, am I mentally, financially okay, emotionally ready and finally the most important one spiritually sound and prepared. This is just the most important aspect of it, if you are not spiritually prepared your marriage is doomed because the fear of God is the beginning of Wisdom.
You may say am beginning to sound religious but that is just the main truth, because when you decided to marry in a church and are being blessed by a priest and then you take you vows in the presence of God, the priest and whole congregation who have come to witness your marriage ceremony and the day you accepted the flesh of your flesh into your life, you are not just doing it for fun, you are also moving into a new stage in life and starting a new life with your soul mate and also allowing God to bless your marriage because he has already sanctioned it.
One thing you should bear in mind is that love is a feeling, marriage is a contract and relationship is a work and the bond of all companionship whether in marriage or in friendship is conversation.
